Produced by John Feldmann, the album was recorded at Foxy Studios in Woodland Hills, California, and is the first to feature Alkaline Trio frontman Matt Skiba, who replaced former member Tom DeLonge. The album debuted at number one in the US and several other countries, and was the group's first domestic chart-topper in 15 years and received a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Album.
