This is a 2012 reissue vinyl LP pressing of Sahara by McCoy Tyner. The American Jazz composer and pianist originally released his album on July 1, 1972, through Milestone Records. Produced by Orrin Keepnews, the album was recorded at Decca Recording Studio in New York City. The recording began in January 1972 and features performances by Tyner with Sonny Fortune, Calvin Hill, and Alphonse Mouzon. The music shows African and Eastern influences and features Tyner playing the koto, flute, and percussion in addition to his usual piano.
