This is a vinyl LP pressing of Howl's Moving Castle (Original Soundtrack). Animated by Studio Ghibli, Howl's Moving Castle (2004) is a Japanese animated fantasy film written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki. It was loosely based on the 1986 novel of the same name by British author Diana Wynne Jones. The film score of Howl's Moving Castle (2004) was composed and performed by Joe Hisaishi and New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra. Hisaishi's music has been known to explore and incorporate different genres, including minimalist, experimental electronic, Western classical, and Japanese classical.

Hisaishi has won numerous awards, including seven Japanese Academy Awards for Best Music. In November 2009, he received the Medal of Honour with a purple ribbon from the Government of Japan.
