This is a limited 2019 reissue vinyl LP pressing of Alligator Bogaloo by Lou Donaldson. The American jazz alto saxophonist originally released his album in August 1967, through Blue Note Records. Produced by Alfred Lion, the album was recorded on April 7, 1967, at Van Gelder Studio, Englewood Cliffs. Alligator Bogaloo features Donaldson with Melvin Lastie, Lonnie Smith, George Benson, and Leo Morris (later to be better known as Idris Muhammad). The album marked the beginning of a fruitful and long-running collaboration between Lou and organ master Dr. Lonnie Smith, with the stellar band.
