Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind is a 1984 Japanese post-apocalyptic anime fantasy film written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki, based on his 1982 manga. The Soundtrack was composed by Japanese music director and conductor, Joe Hisaishi. As a student of anime composer Takeo Watanabe, Hisaishi's music has been known to explore and incorporate different genres, including minimalist, experimental electronic, Western classical, and Japanese classical.
