Introduced in 2006 by Ibanez, the GWB1005 stands as a signature five-string solid-body electric bass model for esteemed American jazz fusion bassist Gary Willis. Crafted in Japan by FujiGen, it succeeded the similar South Korean-made GWB105. Featuring an SR series double-cutaway swamp ash body and a maple neck with a fretless ebony fingerboard, this bass boasts a custom Bartolini passive soapbar pickup and Bartolini preamp with a two-band EQ. Other components include a standard bridge with 16.5mm string spacing, a removable finger rest/ramp, a plastic nut, and Gotoh tuners with custom Sure Grip buttons.
