About This Product

This is a clear vinyl LP pressing of Lady Sings the Blues by Billie Holiday. The recordings featured on this classic album come from two separate studio sessions: a complete session recorded in 1956 and four tracks from a 1954 date, with an additional track from the latter included here as a bonus. The emphasis on both sessions is placed on Holiday’s expressive vocals. Although notable musicians such as Charlie Shavers, Tony Scott, Paul Quinichette, and Wynton Kelly appear on the 1956 session, and Harry "Sweets" Edison, Willie Smith, and Barney Kessel on the 1954 session, the focus remains firmly on Billie Holiday’s powerful and emotive singing.
