This vinyl LP pressing of Lonesome & Blue: The Originals by Various Artists collects the original versions of songs that inspired the Rolling Stones’ album Blue & Lonesome, along with 27 remastered classics from England’s Newest Hit Makers in the early 1960s. Highlights include Muddy Waters’ “I Just Want To Make Love To You,” Slim Harpo’s “I’m A King Bee,” Chuck Berry’s “Come On,” Dale Hawkins’ “Susie Q,” Marvin Gaye’s “Hitch Hike,” and Howlin’ Wolf’s “Little Red Rooster” and “Little Baby.” Also featured are Allen Toussaint’s “Fortune Teller,” Muddy Waters’ “Mannish Boy,” The Coasters’ “Poison Ivy,” and Arthur Alexander’s “You Better Move On.” This collection captures the blues favorites that shaped five young London rockers who would become the Rolling Stones.
