This is a limited edition red vinyl LP pressing of Moanin’ by Art Blakey & the Jazz Messengers, a landmark Blue Note release that marked both a homecoming and a fresh start for Blakey after several years recording for various labels. Originally considered as a self-titled album, it ultimately took its name from the instant popularity of pianist Bobby Timmons’ iconic opening track, “Moanin’.” This special edition features cover and back cover photographs by Jean-Pierre Leloir (1931–2010), renowned for capturing some of the most iconic moments of jazz life in France during the 1950s and 1960s.
