This is a vinyl LP pressing of The Jack Wilson Quartet by Jack Wilson, featuring Roy Ayers, reissued by Sowing Records. Originally released in 1963 on Atlantic, this debut album showcases Wilson’s refined yet dynamic style alongside bassist Al McKibbons and drummer Nick Martinis. A respected yet often underrated pianist and composer, Wilson worked with notable artists such as Gene Ammons, Jackie McLean, Esther Phillips, Lou Rawls, Johnny Griffin, Eartha Kitt, Lambert Hendricks & Ross, and Antonio Carlos Jobim. The album opens with a beautiful rendition of Jobim’s “Corcovado,” followed by five original compositions, delivering a warm, sophisticated, and lively jazz session.
