Originally released in September 1975, the band’s ninth studio album was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London and explores themes of alienation, the music industry, and absence. It features iconic tracks including “Shine On You Crazy Diamond,” a tribute to former band member Syd Barrett, as well as “Welcome to the Machine,” “Have a Cigar,” and the title track “Wish You Were Here.” Widely regarded as one of Pink Floyd’s greatest albums, Wish You Were Here reached No. 1 in both the UK and US album charts and has been certified six-times platinum.
